Anatomia Colours

Anatomia Colours celebrates primary hues—red, yellow and blue—to pay tribute to the De Stijl movement, where artists like Piet Mondrian and Theo van Doesburg embraced geometric forms and bold tonal contrasts. Here, highly pigmented PVA-based paints are applied to both the background and resin-cast insects, yielding an extraordinarily matte finish that preserves the intensity of colour. This technique results in a radiant, almost “dust-like” coating that highlights the delicate details of each insect. By framing insects in this modernist context, the series honors both scientific curiosity and artistic legacy.
